Subject: Southern California Companies Headline Season-Opening Autocross Event

A Trio of Southern California Companies Headline the Super Chevy Show Autocross at Las Vegas
KANSAS CITY (Feb. 25, 2010) -- Total Cost Involved, Wilwood Disc Brakes, and Currie Enterprises have become official sponsors of the first ever Autocross to be held at a Super Chevy Show. Autocross, a designed road course where individual drivers compete for the best timed run based on skill and speed, has become very popular not only with the sports car crowd, but with muscle car enthusiasts as well. The featured race will help kick off the 30th anniversary Super Chevy Show season at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, March 19-21. Participants will be able to bring their Camaros, Chevelles, Corvettes and more to compete against each other to see who will take home the honor of being the quickest and fastest on the Autocross course.

Autocross is not new to Total Cost Involved Engineering of Ontario, California, a manufacturer of frames, chassis, front and rear suspensions, brake kits, engine and transmission mounts, springs, shocks and more for street rods, classic cars, muscle cars and trucks for 36 years. Total Cost Involved has a very competitive 1968 Camaro that they plan to have 11-time SCCA Autocross Champion, Mary Pozzi, drive for them at the Las Vegas event. Pozzi is providing input to the SCCA chapter organizing the autocross.
"Super Chevy Show has introduced another cool segment to selected events this year, the Autocross," Pozzi said. "It's a great opportunity for guys and gals to get off their lawn chairs and be a "Stig" while driving their own cars on the road course. If you choose to run the cones, you'll end up a better driver knowing much more about your own car's limits. Plan to be hooked, as you will want to experience more of this fun automotive sport. I hope to see everyone there and I can't wait to have my way with Total Cost Involved's red '68 Camaro at the Las Vegas Super Chevy Show Autocross."
Total Cost Involved Engineering component suppliers Wilwood Disc Brakes and Currie Enterprises also will be participating as they recognize the use of their products with autocross participants in muscle car and late model applications. Wilwood builds top-notch brake kits, calipers, pads, rotors, hubs, and master cylinders for street rod and muscle car applications that will be used on the autocross course. Currie Enterprises, is not new to the Super Chevy Show environment, as they have been involved with the series for a number of years, marketing their specialized automotive rear ends for Chevrolet makes and models.

The date is too close for me, I was set to make RTTC on April 3. There is no way to push the work on my car to make it.

The Camaro is locked and loaded. The boys in R&D are assembling the two display chassis's. Looks like it will be a long night of loading.

I am jealous of everyone going, I am staying back to hold down the fort. I'll see you at El Toro though.

Evan, Sal & Ben are trying have everything ready so they can make the caravan tomorrow morning.

Tim that torque arm set up on the Camaro worked sooo sweet at Super Chevy Suspension shootout. It look so nice on the rolling chassis. I am thinking about building a torque arm system for my Chevelle one day.....they WORK!

Don't feel bad about getting left at the ranch, I will be wrenching on the Chevelle for El Toro this weekend.

I got to watch a few runs on Sat. Steve kept having a problem with the first corner cone biting his back tire.

But in his defense he had to drive with his head crooked due to the lack of head room.
I only had 2" of space with no helmet, when he let me sit in it.

Thanks for the news, I thought the 5th gen's had more room than that. Haven't heard from Mary today.

But I still got that 4000+ pound pig solidly into the mid 40.5 second range.. and I earned every tenth! The helmet clearance issue was a bitch for sure.. my neck still hurts.. but the Camaro was incapable of a better lap time even if I had good ergonomics. Needs shocks.

Nick won the vendors class in his new Global West equipped 2001 Camaro.. that thing hauls ass for a car that was built last week.

Mary won the Open class in the TCI Camaro.. turning in at one point a 37.1xx ... that girl can drive!

Yea, Yancy's SS.. The only real changes to the suspension are some DSE springs and roll bars.. the rest is painfully stock.

Well, except a BMR chassis brace.. the real issue that needs addressing are the shocks.. right now the car is a handfull.. I'm sorta proud I was able to get what I got out of it.

You should get a medal for going that quick in that car. I'm 5'7" and had to scrunch like a pretzel with my helmet on as the sides of the sunroof opening split the helmet right down the middle. Even with the seat lowered all the way didn't help. Hard to look down the course with your eyes being sideways like a flounder ...

I watched Steve's runs get better and better because he slowed more on corner entry and got less push as a result. If you got in too hot, you paid dearly ... and everyone that drove the car knows how this felt.

I like the outside looks of the "new" Camaro more and more but am not a fan of the interior ergonomics at all.

Cheers,
a very tired Mary Pozzi

Great meeting you too.
I hear the Super Chevy Show in AZ at the end of the season will have an autocross.
We'll be hitting that for sure...
I know you'll be at that one.

I just chalk it up to what a stubbon person I can be.. after driving that far I wasn't about to let something trivial like pain or not fitting in a car stop my fun.. lol

Need to try one sans the sunroof.. bet it would be better..
