Does anyone make a cast 408 kit? I need one for my daily driven truck. I don't need forged parts for a low RPM application, but I do need cubes. This 4.8 is killing me!!!

You can piece one together using an LS7 crankshaft, some rods we stock, and a hyper-e piston, but it really won't save you any money. The best bet would be to use our Callies C-series forged 4" crank, scat h-beams, and some 4032 pistons for longer life. It's just a matter of money, as going without forged generally won't save you any. That setup I just mentioned is $1899 with bearings, rings, and even balanced.

There are alot of options for piecing one together with cheaper parts, but it might be a cumbersome task. We do have some neat pistons from speed-pro that are top and skirt coated, hypereutectic, $300, but they are made for a stock cube stock rod 6.0

I guess I'm just used to old SBC stuff. You can build a 383 for so cheap. I have a 450hp/500lbft 383 in my Ventura that I built for under $2500 from carb to pan.

If I go the 6.0L with a cam route. Where would be the best place to find a LQ9.

I thought you had to modify the front of an LS7 crank when using it in a wet sump system.

I'm really surprised GM hasn't developed a 408 or 416 or its heavy duty trucks.
