Does anyone have any news about how the DSE mounts compare with the other engine mount offerings in regards to engine placement?

I called DSE but they did not say, and were unsure if a stock LS7 pan would fit with their mounts and a stock sub-frame.

I was thinking of ordering a set and giving this a shot now that my motor is back home.

Thx!

Mike Kelcy did a great comparison here:

Ol' Mike is something else! I've never been to that site before but Thanks for that link. That's good info right there!

Good info.

Allan, where has your motor been?

I may have a brand new set of ATS mounts for you if you decide those might work for your situation.

When I bought the motor, the seller and I used a third party (IPS Motorsports in Columbus Ohio) as sort of our middle-man or broker.

It was an easy choice because the motors original owner had the Diamond forged pistons installed there, and then the car dyno'd there. (around 550rwhp)
I took that opportunity and had the heads sent out for porting at WCCH, and re-installed with ARP studs, adding new rocker arms too.
Should be all kinds of badassery!

that sounds like it was chris' old engine before he went with the LSx block for the supercharger, though it could have been jason or mark's. IPS farms out the engine work like that though.

It was Marks, without a doubt. :) I feel a bit lucky to have gotten it.

For the record, the Edelbrock mount position an LSx engine bellhousing surface in exactly the same position as a SBC/BBC. I know this because I used the Edelbrock mounts when I switched from my 502 to an L92. I kept the same transmission as I had with the 502 and the shifter came up in exactly the same location as before. Exactly the same.

Ditto for the Hooker mounts. Although it looks in the pics like the Hookers set it back even further, I switched from a 454 to a LS2, kept the same transmission (4L80e at the time) and didn't have to change anything.
