I am wanting to make a couple brackets for a brake conversion.

They are simple flat pieces, look like dog bones.

The cheapest I have found them is $75 a pair.

I would think they could be made for much less.

I have the design in a pdf file as well as an autocad file.

What kind of material? I have 1/4" & 1/2" 6061 T6 aluminum in stock. If this is ok send me the Autocad file [email protected] I will see what I can do.

It is supposed to be 1/2" but not sure on material. would alumiumn be suffecint for a brake calpier mount?

I will send the file your way.

I would vote on steel to be on the side of safety; however, I think that the brake C5 kit that I am running now is aluminum.

I like the weight savings part of aluminum!

faˇtigue /fəˈtig/ [fuh-teeg]

–noun
4. Civil Engineering. the weakening or breakdown of material subjected to stress, esp. a repeated series of stresses.

Though 1/2" should be fine.

75 bucks is super cheap for a machined piece. Remember your buying someones time, not the materials.

I am unable to change the segments into polylines and my CAM software only sees polylines. Anyone have any ideas on how to convert segments into polylines when you can't see the properties. I can't get the radii to show on the segments, only 4 segments can be seen.

What software are you running? You might need to set your "config" file different when importing files, your importing "splines" not curves. Just a thought. PM me if you want.

The software that I am using is on the cheap side, it's Dolphin. All of my products are done in 2D so I didn't opt for Mastercam or one of the other 3D packages. It was really easy to learn compaired to what I was using before...Anilam.

I looked for that and I don't think my software even has that option. lol

I'm still trying figure out how to covert the splines into polylines.

Yeah, your right on calling them splines, I was calling them segments earlier because I was frustrated and there are four segments that make up the part the way it is drawn.

That looks like the part.

Thanks for the help.
