Does anyone on here have drag strip experience with BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW tires? I'm shopping for new tires for my '71 Chevelle, and I'd like to find something that will hook up better than my current Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's. I realize they're not drag radials, so read on...

I had originally planned on going with a drag radial, but after researching them, it seems they pretty much rule out driving in the rain except for Nitto 555R's, and the Nittos rule out ever driving the car below freezing due to cracking problems. My car was built to be driven, so all those options are out.

Looking for a streetable performance tire that'll perform reasonably well at the drag strip or autocross on occasion, I'm considering 255-40-17 and 295-35-18 g-Force T/A KDW tires (new tread pattern). From experience, how well do they handle launching at the drag strip? Better than most street tires? About the same? Still nowhere near as good as a drag radial?

If you have power its not going to hook. I've heard horror stories about DRs on the street but never experienced anything myself. My bud runs Micky Thompsons everyday and never had any crazy wet weather 360s. The ET Street is the best street tire IMO but you probably not going to like it as a daily driver. It does hook like hell tho. I ran a street set, and a track set and if I got caught on the street with my street set I just drove like ballz or lost. In this situation, its tough to have both worlds. If you are sold on the KDWs I do know some guys that have got 1.8s and a few 1.7s out of them.

I don't have tremendous power (probably just a little short of 400 at the rear wheels). I'm currently running 3:31 gears.

The ET street radial does pretty well in the rain. You can drive the same as you would in normal conditions but i wouldn't recommend it. Unless you drive really aggressively than you will be fine. The only time i've had issues with them is coming off an exit ramp we hit a little oil (in the rain) and lost it across a three lane highway with a tractor trailer coming :drive2: . Once they lost grip it's impossible to get it back but they were covered in oil.

Anyone else have rain experience with M/T or BFG drag radials?

Toyo R888's should work decent for what you want.

i had bfg d/r and nitto d/r on my 97 cobra and i never had a problem with either of them in the rain or all winter long. the bfg hooked better on the street though i will say that!
