I don't post here as much as on camaros.net but I thought since most of you guys know Frank I would share my expirence with him here too.
original thread here http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=174628
in case you dont already know, he has a webcam set up in the booth and when its your turn you get to watch your car get painted.
Prodigy Customs painted my 67 camaro a couple of days ago. Those guys have mad skills. :1st: Frank was such a big help fine tuning my vision, and getting me the best deals on the "extras" that I wanted. Definately a great guy to work with. :)
so without further ado.....

I made both colors, The silver was something I whipped up thinking Mark might like it better then a darker colorfor the stripes he was asking for. And the grey I eye matched to the wheels. My primary mission was to make sure the 2 colors have the same grain to them. Both colors are very grainy and look like variations of one another, which makes me very happy.

Frank, what guns are you guys using to paint with?
ProdigyCustoms
02-26-2010, 05:09 AM
I am not sure which guns Bob used on ths one. We have a couple Sata digital RP, 1.4 and 1.3, and Iwata W400 1.3. For me, I do not paint much for the last few years. But I like the W400 is my favorite clear gun and I go back and forth on the Sata's fo base depending on clolor and how it is laying out.

Frank,
What process or products do you use for the quarter to filler panel seam by the lower rear window to keep it from cracking the paint if not welded full? It appears you have full seams on this?
Thanks, Wes

OK, we are headed to the Keys, Tough job but someone has to do it.
The guys are crankin in the shop right now, second car this month and 2 more right behind it.
I am sure someone will say "lower it" and I am sure he will. It is all about paint and exterior right now.
Personally, I love the color combo. i love the fact the grain in both colors is identical. I am weird about little stuff like that.
So what yall think!
Mark, see ya first thing in the morning

It is impoosible to say "How much is a Paint Job" as every car requires different. We do give hard numbers on paint AFTER rugh in bodywork and also hard numbers on sheetmetal, but cannot give a hard number on bodywork until it is naked.
But once a car has the needed sheetmetal repair done, and has the big bodywork riughed in, it is 240 hours through paint and buff.

This was supposed to be a picture of the brand new Ring bros door handles and it is. But it is a unreal shoot of the depth of this paint! That transformer, light pole, are 30 feet away. Those palms are 60 feet away! Those trees behind the house must be 150 feet away! Mark wanted a color that was dark grey, and I wanted a color you could see into. We both got what we wanted!

the water is cold as hell! You know you are a local when you wont even put your big toe in unless it is like bath water, lol. Will you be at the seafood festival next weekend?
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys, it looks amazing in person. I have the interior out of right now. I will be putting procar seats in tomorrow along with new carpet. I recovered the rear seats with the matching procar covers.

Ya know, we just might have to do that, at least the paint booth cam. The shop cam idea has been discussed, I really wanted to do it during the MotiV8r build. But for obvious reasons I think broadcasting the current inventory and layout everyday is probably stupid at best.
But I think in the near futre we will do some web caming of some stuff on no particular schedule so only the RIGHT people are watching.

Seafood fest! You knew i would have waited another week if I heard about that didn't you?
I need pics when the seats / interior and engine detail are done. Might have to come down and shoot those myself, and stay a while!

We're staying all weekend but hadn't heard about a seafood festival? I'm going to google it now - but I don't see missing that, since we will be there anyway! :) I'm planning for a little seafood fest of my own too.. we come down to catch the bugs!
