4" backspacing in front and 4.5" in back. Front brakes will be the Baer Track 4 system. Will I run into any issues? What size tires would be ideal for this set up?

I'm running 17x7 and 18x8 on my '65 Goat with Baer serious street front and rear. Pretty sure the Baers add .5" to the track (.25" per side). My BS is 4.75" front and 5" rear. Tires are 225/50/17 and 255/45/18. I went conservative so that I could swap these around to my other GTOs which have stock brakes. For what it's worth, there's about .25" clearance to my big swaybar up front at full steering lock.

What year is your A-Body? Those sizes will look ok on a 64 but look like 14x6s on a 70 so it's all relative to the size of your car and wheelwells. My Baers pushed out my front track width .90" per side.

Its all going to depend on what A body you have...

64s take a 7 and 8
65s can take a 7 and 9
66-67s can take a 8 and 10 in the rear.....

how can 65's get away with a 17x9 if the deminsions are essentially the same as a 64 ?

It's for a '66 GTO. I'm not looking for HUGE rims and tires on this car. I figured 17" and a decent size tire would do me just fine.

On a '66 GTO, 17x7 front and 17x8 rear will be fine. I'm not sure what the BS should be. It depends on the track width resulting from whatever front spindles/hubs and rear end you're using. I "think" the Baer Track 4 brakes will fit fine, but am not personally sure. Jon at DriverzInc probably knows.

BTW, Jon, (at DriverzInc) - If I had not modified my rear wheel houses, there is no way that a 10" wheel would have fit. They fit perfectly now, but I made room during the build.

We have the brake templates on the Track 4, so we know what fits.
Yes, there are some easy modifications that we normally recommend to make the 10's fit, with 275s, and for the guys running 285s or larger, we know what mods need to be made there too. If you are only going to run a 275 tire though, the fit is snug, but not extreme. Anyone wanting to push the limits, give us a call, and we'll guide you down the right path. :smoke:
