My names Russell, I'm out in Oklahoma.
I would really like to get into auto-x at some point in time. I think it would be a whole lot of fun. Plus it would help out my driving skills.
Anyways, Let me tell you what I've got to work with for now.
It's a 1999 2 Door, 2 Wheel Drive, Tahoe, LS Base, 5.7L(165K)/(10k)4l60e W/3.42's
I've got a 4.5/6" Drop.
275/45/r20(Yokohoma AVID SUV-Directionals)On all four corners. Thats a rather large tire for this drop btw.
I am rubbing in the front now due to the new hotchkis coils, I am either going to have to mini-tub the front, or get a smaller tire.
2" hotchkis springs, and 2" DJM spindles.
4" Western Chassis, and 2" unknown brand shackles.
I have brand new MOOG, inner and outer tie-rods, pitman, and idler arms. New upper and lower balljoints.
Motor is completely stock, I've got a stock ford roush muffler on my truck(Crazy I know) Suprisingly it sounds pretty decent. Heres an exhaust clip.

And here is exactly what I'm working with. It's a little rough due to me being an idiot, but everything will be fixed in due time/money.
When I got it

How it sits now.

I have a front bumper, I'm just fixing the front brackets, retapping the threads.
The white hood is there because of an accident I got into last April.
As for plans for this hoe.
I plan on getting a rear hellwig*edit* sway bar, and either a bigger front sway bar. or a complete polyurethane bushing master upgrade kit for the front.
I plan on getting steering gear box out of a 454ss truck, they have 12:1 ratio instead of my 9:1, they may not be as pretty as the AGR box's, but they have lifetime warranties on them, and I can pick one up for around 100 dollars.
This will result in quicker reaction time, and not having to spin steering wheel like 30 times to make a decent turn.
I do eventually plan on running 17" billet specialties.
With a little smaller tire than what I'm running now, so I don't have a whole lot of sidewall flex in high speed cornering.
Performance upgrades, are not really an option right now.
If anything, I will see if I cannot squeeze a nice 6.2L gasser in here out of the new denali's and pickups.
They should bolt up to the 4l60e, that tranny wont hold up for long with that kind of power behind it if I drive it like I want too :)
After the motor swap I getting a 4l80e, and doing a conversion to a 6l80e, with completely built internals.
As for gears, with as much power as the motor is pushing stock in my little tahoe, the 3.42's would probably be pretty good.
And last but not least. possible 4-link rear setup in the far future.

Now lets hear some opinions/ideas/criticism/and loads of help.
Thanks, and this will be a slow build. I'm a highschool student, and jobless for the time being.

-Russell

I've ran across that tahoe on the internet multiple times, and never actually read the sticker on the side.
I've admired it for how awesome it looked, I never got a look on the inside, or anything like that.
I never thought I'd run into the build on a forum at one point. haha.

Seems like everybody seems to have a place for them in their heart.
It will be slow progress, but there will be progress, I still need a notch in my frame, helper bags, and a rear hellwig sway bar.

I joined a few days ago, figured I would finally do it, considering I plan on getting into this.
and yeah I figured it was you when I saw the name "tig"
And your names sam right?
I know they like to have the "first name basis" around here, from what I read in the rules anyways.

Yes sir, Sam I am.

That Tahoe is sweet. The stance is perfect. Any specs?

it looks like its setting at around a 5/7, but I wouldn't doubt if it's bagged.
And yeah, theres a lot of info here, I haven't really read anything yet. just kind of lurked around.
Theres definitely an overwhelming amount of info here though.
So you settled into your house yet Sam?
Cause you need to get to work on your tahoe as well!

I was thinkin 5/7 to, would'nt be surprised if it was bagged though.
Spend a few hours going through different threads and what not, you'll be amazed at what these guys are doing, its pretty insane.
I wish we were all settled in. Its going to take a couple of weeks to finish, wish there was more time in a day, lol.
Seriously bro, I need my Hoe to be done. Then I can report how everything is working in conjunction with each other and enjoy it of course :)

thanks swoosh!
I'll try and get some more progress so I can get peoples hopes up,
Were also in the progress of tearing into my dads 84' short-wide.
Re-doing the entire front end of it, adding a 1 ton sway bar in the front, and a rear bar in the back, not sure which one yet.
and got a 3/4 kit going on it as we're doing all that.
Plus were redoing the front brake system. minus m cylinder.

I haven't seen that thing in years! I loved that tahoe. The guy that painted it painted my old truck.
