I spent the weekend modifiying a rear seat from a 06 GTO to fit my 68 firebird. Cut the lower seat frame in half and welded in pieces from the original 68 frame so each seat base hooks into the original bracket on the floor. Cut a piece out of the upper seat frame to clear the tunnel and cut the GTO mounting eyelets. The upper hangs off of a bar that runs the length of the seat on the original 68 hooks. Had to cut the passenger side bracket and move the hook to the opposite side of the bracket (further towards the passenger side. I'm also going to use the GTO rea shelf filler and LED third brake light. Trying to decide if I should put Sparco cloth down the centers of the rear or have the Sparcos recoverd in leather to match the rear.

That looks awesome. I think you could probably get away with doing the Sparco cloth inserts and that should really bring the look together. It looks nice as is though.

Thanks! I agree, I think the sparco cloth down the centers and leave the side bolsters leather would realy tie it together. My dilemma is that my 2 year old daughter and soon to be 5 year old son will be sitting back there and leather is much easier to clean. It seems like EVERYTHING sticks to the Sparco material.

Fantastic fitment!
I am impressed with how well the GTO rear tray fits in the Firebird. :1st:
You didn't have to shorten the backrests any, did you?

Yeah, I was shocked with the rear tray. It's just sitting on the rear shelf, lines up with the top of the seats perfect, matches the shape of the back of the tray almost perfect. The only place it doesn't fit is about an inch or so on each side. Then I'll need to make something to transition the shelf to the quarter trim panel.

I didn't shorten the backrest at all. There is a couple inches of the base that would normally be exposed that is underneath the backrest, but there is still plenty ass room. I'm 6' 4" and I can sit back there as well or better than a stock bench. The Sparcos go back so far that I can barely reach the pedals or shifter, and with them all the way back they are just touching the rear base.

nice and comfy, I'd do the fronts in leather as well, cloth looks way to cheap compared to the leather rears
