Hey everyone just wanted to say hello, my name is BJ and I am starting my 2nd 66 GTO project. Got my first one when I was 15 and sold it a year and a half later like an idiot. That was almost 14 years ago. Well 8 years ago my dad picked up this 66 and has done nothing with it really so I bought it and will be doing a relatively low buck build... I hope :) Here is a picture from the day we got it 8 years ago. Currently body is off of the frame but I can't afford to do the body properly at this time so some minor fixing will be done and the body will be put back on the frame. I just want to cruise the car for a few summers before I do body/paint work. Majority of the money will be spent on mechanicals at this time.
Plans are:
Complete suspension and steering rebuild
Drum brake overhaul
All new brake lines and fuel lines
Refresh the 400 and auto trans setup that is currently has
I want to lower it to get a nice tuck on the tires any suggestions would be helpful for this.
Biggest expense will probably be a nice set of upgraded wheels and tires hopefully something in the 17-18" range
Looking forward to learning a lot from everyone here, I have seen some amazing builds done here everyone should be really proud of the cars they have they are great!!
