View Full Version : Besides ugly hose routing, any cons to driver side A/C?

I'm looking to get some March Bracket and Pulleys but unless I go all out, the A/C will be on the drivers side for V-Belt.

So, are there any cons to the setup other than long hose lines and the routing issues?

Suggestions?

I can't do $1800 for a bracket and pulley set up, whether it's all at once or pieced together.

I don't want the GM kit, it's too much for what it is.

I think Billet Specialities has a pulley & bracket kit for driver side A/C
I bought one for my BBC from them

The biggest problem I see with driver side compressor is many people decide to route the hoses across the top of the engine like the factory did many times. We route the hoses straight down heading towards the bottom of the core support. There is a step in the core sport along the lower edge where the inner and outer panels mate and it makes a perfect troth for the hoses. Then run the hose along the bottom of the core support, one turning into the condenser, the other continuing to the inner fender with a final destination being the firewall. Works pretty well.
