View Full Version : Any home brewers here?
Like the title says anybody make their own beer, wine, spirits, moonshine, etc?

Yes, beer.
What equipment do you have? Do you brew all grain or extract? I just kinda jumped in feet first a few weeks ago and brewed a all grain dark ale. A buddy of mine gave me a converted keg a few years ago and I decided to put it to use. Still waiting to see how the ale turns out. I have been playing with a stout recepie that I may try next.

I've brewed a few. I haven't quite perfected it yet . My buddy who got me into it is pretty hardcore about it.
We've stuck to all grain, grind it ourselves, and make it in 5 gallon batches. that is, until my friend gets a 10 gallon brew kettle. this reminds me that I really have to get to brewing something new soon.

:yum:I have grapes and had a guy at work make wine from it. It didn't turn out too good but he didn't add anything to it because he wanted to get a baseline on how it would be.
It taught me that you can mix the other hints of this and hints of that to make it better, which is why when you read the bottle is says hints of raspberry or peach or other types of fruit which really means is they mixed those things with the grapes to make it taste drinkable. Hints of pepper always make me wonder why ?
Beer is just about the same thing , you just mix what you want in it an hope for the best.
Now moonshine, boy you haven't had moonshine until you have been to Pigeon Forge :smoke: and that's all I'm sayin:yum::ssst:

I'm an extract brewer, but I've perfected it and make great beer. I don't care to put time and money commitment into all-grain. Maybe someday.

my only advice, which is something that I'm bad at, is following directions. Find a recipe and follow it to a T and you'll be good to go. The last beer I made I substituted one type of grain for another and another part for something else, it's fun to experiment, but a crapshoot when you drink it
