I would like to know if it would be a big improvement over my current setup on my chevelle, 1LE/single piston d52, seville rear big single piston uses d52 pads, to convert to LS1 fbody front and rear or c5 front Ls1 rear. Currently I dont have any complaints other than the rear calipers having a built in e brake. Also how much differece would hydroboost add to either setup thanks,
Jake

The LS1 fronts wouldn't be a huge different over what you have, especially since the front piston area would be a bit smaller. Now C5 fronts with LS1 rears (what I have) with hydroboost (mine is manual now) would be a great combination.

What is the difference in the ls1 front pad and the c5 front pad?
I have always understood the calipers to be interchangeable. Please help me understand the difference.

The abutments are different. You can mount a ls1 caliper into a c5 abutment. I am not sure if a c5 caliper will fit a ls1 abutment. Use the pads for the abutments that you use.
The ls1 has a 12" rotor, if you use that rotor then you probably won't see a difference in braking. The c5 has a 12.8" rotor.
This might help you also, I have ls1 front brakes, and I am having a hard time finding someone that makes the bracket to mount these to a 2nd gen camaro.
I hope this helps,
Ed

i believe the ls has 12.8 fronts, and 12 rears while a c5 has 13.4fronts and 12 rears

autozone says ls1 front rotor is 303mm
305mm = 12"
325mm = 12.8"
340mm = 13.4"
355mm = 14"

Ls1 and C5 calipers are the same. Ths only difference are c5 calipers have more ribs and say corvette.
The abuntments are different, as the c5 rotor is larger.

That's not totally accurate, the C5 calipers are pressure cast vs. gravity cast for the LS1. Piston sizes are the same though.

My main concern is being able to service the brakes without having to order pads, calipers,or rotors from one specific company. For example the CCP 13" front setup uses pickup calipers but their own specific rotor. If you think about it the rotors and pads are the two main service items in the system, I would like to be able to replace these with OEM parts, so that I could pick them up at a local parts store. I may not have the most cutting edge system out there, but I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest. I just want something that performs better than what I have now.
Thanks
