We have secured the host hotel for the El Toro / RTTC event... It will be the La Quinta Inn at Irvine Spectrum. the number is 949-551-0909. Mention : Run To The Coast for pricing. Looks to be $59 / nite but this may be lower in next day--waiting for manager to recalculate.

With that kind of hotel location, I fully expect you guys to really crash the cars and coffee meet with a huge number of killer pro-touring cars.

Booked a room this morning. They didn't know about any group rate at all. I booked a AAA discount instead.

"Next to the Denny's" is a joke, sort of. Many La Quinta hotels have a Denny's next door. Hampton Inn could also qualify for "Next to the Applebees." I spend way too many nights in hotels.

There is a great Mexican place in "the same" building as this La Quinta and, IIRC, a fancy burger place right next door. But yeah... there is a Denny's there as well...

TiaJuana's ... I remember it well (I think). Some nights are better remembered than others as a few of my Solo friends can attest. Their margaritas can be lethal.

At a two-day event a couple of years ago, I was leading my class by over ten seconds. Went to Tia's on Saturday night and after not eating most of the day plus standing around in 90+ degree F from 8am until the last run was completed, chips, salsa, and one huge margarita were consumed with lightning speed. From what I've been told by the evil ones at the table, it was the second one that did me in ...

I fell asleep on grid the following day and DNF'd two of the three runs in the exact same place on the course. Got a time on my last run and it woulda really sucked to have lost a Divisional when leading by so much the first day ...

Note to self ... do not do that again!!

The food's also good.

Cheers,
Mary Pozzi

Just made my reservation. Tell them it's for the Run to the Coast and you'll get the group rate. They never called me back yesterday about it, but it is set up.

I just made me reservation also. Althought both people I talked to had no idea of the group rate. I even called back twice. Talked to a megan the first time and a bryant the second. He told me $55 for friday night the $59 for sat and sun. Also said that if anyone figures out the group rate that when I check out itll be discounted then.

See yall in Cali!!!

No one there seems to have a clue about any RTTH deal or block of rooms. I've spoken to several people and they were all clueless....

Edit....call the front desk...not the reservation line. Basically no official group has been set up, so the reservation service has no clue. The front desk is overriding the rate manually. Mine was $59 per night....
