PICS COMING SOON, NEED BATTERIES FOR CAMERA.
BUT, Since I want some way to do smaller welding work on my car I decided to take the plunge for a TIG welder, but which one, new, used, 110/220/440 single phase or three.
So after many choices researched, and specs dissected I made my choice.
I bought a Thermal Arc 95S inverter Stick/Tig.
While its a scratch/lift tig light duty stick welder, I just didnt have $1500-$2500 for a bigger unit right now. A fella on here narrowed his bumpers but done with mig and it wasnt a pretty as I thought it could be.
Well after seeing what this little thing could do I was sold (saw the work not the welder) and when I got a little larger paycheck this week I decided to pick it up over put it in layaway as the units going to go up soon and layaway doesnt hold the price.
So for $378.99 I got the Welder, stick welding cable/holder ground clamp, tig torch, consumables, 4, 3/32 6013 rods, very nice gas regulator, demo CD and Thermal Arc hat.
All in a very cool plastic carry case.
THIS THING IS TINY.
GUYS if it welds half as good for me as my friend it will be incredible for small fabbing in the car while not taking up major room and since I dont have a garage to work from, smaller is better.
Dont worry pics coming, just gotta bring home some batteries.
While it wont do aluminum, I just couldnt get any good deals ,even on used units that would do aluminum. Do have a fella ordering me some supposedly super duper easy to weld with aluminum welding rods for stick welding (no special adapters or equipment needed) we will see.
Honestly, for small fabbing on steel and stainless this unit is supposed to be very good and it runs on both 110 and 220 so its versatile.
PICS SOON>>>>>>>>

PS YES I am a tool whore!

Well got some argon, been "playing " at work, actually welded a jaw onto the shop vise, looks like crap, did learn you actually have to turn on the gas or tungsten electrode disappears!
Not sure if I can actually learn this with our some instruction, or maybe need some type book on tig welding.
Oh well its bought, now just need practice!

yes practice, use scrap sheet metal, its erasier to learn temp control. 14 g thin is good. Just move the pool around then start feeding into it as soon as you feel comfy.

Its like playing the piano and knitting a sweater at the same time.

This guy should help. rR8Rlpf0ELQ

You are most likely like me...have to see it to know it.
The Master Matt taught me and his instruction lives with me to this day.

Monza,
You're prabably already hip to this but to be clear, the machine you bought it DC only and won't be able to weld AL like in the video. Doesn't make it a bad machine. Scratch start takes some getting used to but since you're a clean slate, it sohuldn't be too hard for you. Enjoy it.

nice little welder and an awesome price. I use a miller maxstar 150 everyday at work on stainless and love it. about the same size as you machine. When your welding regular mild steel or sheet metal just be sure to make sure it is perfectly clean before welding. The closer you fit the two pieces together being welded the less filler rod you have to use. If the pieces butt together without a gap then you can just fuze the pieces together without filler rod. Good luck, and practice, practice, practice. Miller makes a good book about tig welding that you should look into.
