Head selection?

This is an addition to my other cam question, I'm about to swap cams and
my 383 has 69 vette heads that are ported and are 1.94 intake/1.5 exhaust. Do you think it's worth upgrading to vortec heads?
or is there another low budg. head worth investigating?
