Handy-dandy link to some of the "best car chases of the 70's".
Props to our own Mr. Angry for putting this link together.
Enjoy!

Some fun notes, observations & trivia:
"Vanishing Point" - Painful music soundtrack, Camaro crashed at end, not Challenger.
"The French Connection" - The car crash during the chase sequence, at the intersection of Stillwell Ave. and 86th St., was unplanned and was included because of its realism. The man whose car was hit had just left his house a few blocks from the intersection to go to work and was unaware that a car chase was being filmed. The producers later paid the bill for the repairs to his car.
"Fear is the Key" - Torino driver is "Kowalski" from Vanishing Point.
"The Seven-Ups" - Bad guy driver is driver of Bullitt Charger, Bill Hickman. Stuntman Ventura driver broke nose on crash under semi at end. Chase ends on Saw Mill Parkway, Westchester County NY.
"White Lightning" - Very obvious Ford Motor Company provided the cars here. One scene in the movie Burt is busting through the gears on the 4-Speed.....another scene he is slamming the column shift into "park".
"McQ" - The Duke had a bad-ass Firebird Formula that bites the dust earlier in the movie.
"Dirty Mary Crazy Larry" -During the chase where Larry's Charger knocks a police car in the river, the '69 Charger becomes a '68 Charger in one shot, as seen from the front. Awesome driving done earlier in full-size Caprice.
"Blazing Magnum" - Overuse of replays and "grimacing" drivers.
"The Driver" - Great sense of speed in the chase. That Firebird handles quite good.
"Smokey & the Bandit" - First movie I ever saw in the theatre that is soley responsible for me liking cars. Many times, especially early on, you can hear shifts and see through skid marks that the Trans Am is a 4-speed, but interior shots show it to be an automatic transmission.
