I need suggestions for a power steering setup for GM A-body's. Specifically my 67' GTO. I have an old manual gearbox and im getting rid of it right away.
Im not trying to break the bank but i dont want junk either. Im just looking for a good value. Can most of the aftermarket Power steering units be used with the stock pumps?

I went to Lee's Power Steering for my 68 Chevelle, I had them do a 14.7 ratio with a 35 lbs valve. I am not a fan of the 12.5 ratio box makes the car a bit darty at higher speeds. My 71 Monte Carlo has one of Lee's box too (same ratio with a 40 lbs valve). Both are the 605 box.
I talked to the guys at CPP they currently have a Delphi box that is 12 to 1 that uses the new style rack and pinion internals that is supposed to be superior for feel, I don't know yet I have not gotten the time to install the one I have.
That is my suggestions hope it helps.

I had Chip at Power Steering Services rebuild mine w/12:1 ratio internals.
