I'm guessing a radiator is a radiator...right? Thinking of running my 3 row Small Block Chevy radiator with the LS1. Only thing I can think of that might be a challange is finding hoses that would fit.
Thoughts.

I think the only issue would be how to connect the steam vent. This is supposed to connect to the high point of the radiator but I've seen some tricks to get around it. BB radiator should be big enough for an LS1 if you put the right fans and shroud on it.

Don...I'm running my steam vent into a tap on the water pump. Got the idea from Steve Rupp.

I have a bigblock radiator on mine and I think it is to big, on the other hand no overheating issues at all, can stand still for ever.
On mine I have the powersteering oil cooler that came with my Ls1 from a 2001 SS Camaro. So I used the original hose from the '01 Camaro going out of the waterpump to the oilcooler, I cut it to fit. Then two 90 degree bends after the cooler, one pointing up the other in to the radiator. In between a pipe to connect them.
For the waterpump inlet I found a hose at the autosupplier that fitted.
You can bend a coathanger and go to the store and ask if you could look around the asortment of hoses.

I picked up a used F-body radiator and fans for $100 and mounted it to the core support, works great.

For the steam line I had a brass hose barbed nipple from lowes brazed into my oem tank at a local radiator shop for 35$. They sale hose adapters at summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-390003/ if you can't find a hose with the right sizes on both ends but the hose length and shape is correct.
