Hey guys I have a small problem. I have a awesome set of wheels but they are the wrong off set for the rear of my camaro. How much can I narrow a 1970 camaro rearend and retain the stock leaf spring, shocks and tubs before I run into interferance problems? I was hoping I could do an inch on each side. Anyone out there do this before? And I know some of you are thinking why did you buy the wrong wheels. These wheels were built for my chevelle which has a narrowed rear end. The chevelle won't be on the road for a while but the camaro is up and running and I wanted to make use of the wheels.

A inch per side is no problem

If you go much more than an inch you will have problems with the brake backing plates hitting the leaf spring perches. The '70 to '81 Camaros didn't have much room between the spring perches and the brakes.

Thanks for the input guys. I will be ugrading the axles and installing the ford 9" housing ends so I am looking at it as an upgrade rather than a waste of money just to get wheels to fit. I will be switching to disc brakes too and I think that will give me a little more room with the spring and shock perch.

I believe I went 1.5 per side, gets a liitl clost to the springs but works well and the more lip the better in my book.

check to see if a stock first gen rear would work,I know they are shorter but dont know by how much .it would be cheaper rout(i think)

The spring perches are not in the same place and the first gen Camaro rear end is only 1/2 inch shorter on each side.
