In the future I will be getting the year one cast 17x9 snowflakes.
I have researched alopt about tires and wondering what the biggest size I can get in the rear without rubbing I have heard of people running 285 40 17 in rear what would be a good ize for front?
I know the 285 's are about a 26 inch tire.

The "14 car" runs 305's in a stock wheel well. His screen name is "not a ta" and he has the red early second gen Formula. His car looks awesome, great stance and he nailed the wheels and tires.

Thanks for the compliments Stephen! I currently have 315 35 17's and 275 40 17's up front. I'm switching up to 18's soon with Yokohamas AO 48 DOT R tires 295 30 18 rear and 285 30 18 front on 10" wide Rushforths. The tires are the newer version of the AO32's I have been running. There are several reasons for going to a little wider front and a little narrower rear. Like everything there are always compromises to achieve the most balanced all around performance.

The early 2nd gens have a little more rear tire room than the later ones due to different fenders and no rear seat belt retractor hump in the inner fender. I think the 285 17's should work out depending on the backspacing. I think guys are running 255-265 fronts on those snowflakes but I'd check with the guys who have late 2nd gens for fitment. Dave at Pro-Touring F Body can also make recommendations since he deals with a lot of the TA guys. http://www.pro-touringf-body.com/

Pending on the cross section on that 295/30/18 you may want to check in with Jason on offsets as the tires I put on the white TA on "Live Wires" gave me an ever so slight rub roughly where the seat hub as described is on the driver side (Axle every so slightly shorter side from Factory)... Each tire has it's own profile/cross section and your filling things pretty much to the max without mods.

That all said, they look "really great" and Jason is a number one guy to deal with period so you know you'll get good advise and product.

Thanks for the heads up Albert. I'm running a new rear I built with Moser housing ends and adding Baers also so I've got some measuring to do to be positive I'll have clearance that will allow some lateral movement of the rear when pushing the car on road tracks.

Measure your car....measure your car, and then measure your car. What works for one guy may or may not work on the next car when you start trying to fit the most tire possible.

Safe sizes "with proper back spacing" are probably 275 or 285 in the rear and 245 or 255-slight rubbing on the sway bar on the front.
