This was about 4 PM this afternoon. At the time the snow measured 3-1/2". This is our 3 yr old Silas' first snow he can play in, and he loved it. Just checked outside and we are up to right over 5" right now. We don't get this too often in TN so we live it up when we can.

I am a bit jealous because it will be gone about as fast as it got there. Our first snow is still on the ground underneath the 3 or 4 that have still not melted away.
It is a good thing that didn't turn to ice, I have been in Tenn. when one of those hit and it was scary to see how bad the drivers are down there just like here in Ill. when the first slippery weather hits.
It's good to see you out there with your son playing in it, hope he had a blast and a snowball fight!

I was supposed to leave Charlotte NC yesterday at 4:00pm. Snow had just starting falling. So we board the plane, & wait at the terminal for 3 hours for them to de-ice the plane. Yes we sat in the plane at the terminal for 3 f'ing hours. What a day.

Good times. Im in Memphis and the whole town practically shut down. Very funny to me, since I used to live in Chicago.

I'm jealous cause you got snow. All we got here in N. GA is ice. We got about 1/2 inch of ice coating everything.

And all we got today down here in Charleston was a cold rain. My 3 year has yet to see snow and it looks like we'll have to make a trip up north next year so he can see some.

I learned a long time ago the best way to figure out how to drive in this type weather (ice/snow) is to get out and play in it. I always worried about the other drivers that don't know how to react in this type of situation. It's now 8:30 Saturday night and we have roughly 6-1/2" of snow with about 1/2" of ice on top of that. I expect the snow to be here for most of the week. Tonight's low is supposed to be around 9, and the highs all week aren't supposed to be above 38. And my truck probably put on a few extra 100 lbs with all of the ice and snow hanging off of it now.

We got alittle bit of that storm too...12-14" worth on the ground at my house. Soft and fluffy, no where near as slick as the Dec 18 snow that we had just before Christmas. We still had some of that first snow lurking around in the shady spots...LOL

I used to not mind snow, now I want to take a torch to frosty the snowman and oldman winter. Did I say I am sick of it!
Wish I had winter toys and kids, maybe it would help?

We need some snow up here, lost it a couple weeks back and only have a dusting. At least I got to let the boy go for his first sled ride before it went away...

Well it's now Wednesday and our snow is gone. Gotta love TN weather. Below freezing for several days then high 40s into low 50s next couple days.

BUddy of mine from tech school many years ago found me online nad sent me a pic of a snow fort he and kids built.
He got lucky and got let go in his old job and took a severance buy out, and all kinds of goodies, so he decided to take his luck and mover closer to his inlaws as wife has been worrying about them. Well he found a great deal in right area, Realtor never told him about hoa or anything, so he buy all 5 lots (3 houses) that had sat for long time, got them for a song. Well found the houses were built wrong (not to code) so he took them apart, and rebuilt into a huge house with 2 garages and out garage, at time of purchase his property was worth like(purchase price) $500k ( all of it , yes).
When he got done the with the build his property valued at nearly $2m. All it cost him was about $100k for extras!
Well this drove back up deflated property prices in his area and several neighbors got lucky and it let them refi for better rates, even saved one guy form foreclosure as with prices back up he got to get his house back out of an upside down market.
WELL HOA came and told Reggie to tear down the snow fort, no snow men, and he was to do $300k in "required renovations" to meet there strict rules.
Well lucky him he had his house rebuilt by a guy who learned from Mike Holmes up in Canada, and that guy is picky.
Oh and Reggies' wife is lawyer,,,,, So she rips into them asking who "approved" the 3 old houses.
ROFLMAO, turns out all but one of there "required renovations" were AGAINST BUILDING CODE!
He told them to pound sand! And he is 6ft1in black fella about 285lb.
He has went in front of 2 judges since(and snow fort is added to everytime it snows) and so far the judges have told HOA to pound sand also.
He said he is hoping fort lasts till 3rd round in court, he has added doors, window bars, hopes for more snow so he can build second floor!
He has snow men all over just like Calvin and Hobbes. Ill try to find the pics.
OH and his neighbors are all doing same thing. Weird thing is he has yet to get any "bill" from HOA, so he has yet to figure out how they have cash to fund this fight.
Others used to pay but now they have quit. Odd that he has never gotten a bill, or anything(nothing in purchase papers)so now he is just having fun.
Oh and he got to meet Al Gore in airport and he asked him if the weather was gonna stay this warm for winters to come. mainly because his kids love snow and where he was had none and now they get a lot (dont ask I forget where he lives but he had tons of it).
Im trying to get him on here as he has a nice English right had drive Firebird he is fixing up, and he love Pro-Touring!
Enjoy the snow guys it isnt as bad as you think.
