Hello all,
I've been on the site for a little while now, admiring all the beautiful vehicles on here. I really like the fact that the rides on here are show worthy but driven hard. My project truck is an '85 GMC S-15 extended cab that I just pulled out of the garage and am ready to start building up slowly. I inherited this truck when my father passed three years ago, so it will be dedicated to his memory. Before my father bought the S-15, he owned a '57 Chevy stepside and actually tried to give it to me before I went off in the Air Force. Unfortunately at the age of 18, I did not appreciate classic cars/trucks as much as I do now. I said no...and I'm still kicking myself for that one till this day. So, although the '85 isn't a classic, I'm going to rebuild it with the same love I would if I had the '57. I'm defnitely open to all suggestions from 1st gen S10/S15 owners. Thanks in advance for all the comments to the many questions I know I'll be asking.

Welcome to the forum. The 1st gen S-10 is an excellent Pro-Touring platform. I used to own one that I used for AutoX and track events. They don't need any rocket science to get them to handle well. Now you will have a better weight balance with the 4 cylinder or V-6's. While they may not be popular with most they can give good hp and keep the front end weight down. My standard cab truck was 61% front 39% rear after stripping the cab and relocating the battery to the bed and that was with the 4.3L V-6. If you interested in mods for either a 4 or one of the 2 V-6's PM me as I have researched them a bit.

It may be tough to do with an extended cab frame, but I have heard of a kit to bolt up the 50's style Chevy truck bodies to the S10/S15 frames. Maybe you can put that on your project list for a future ride and find a 57 body.

Thanks guys for the welcome and comments. I think I'm going to learn a lot here about suspensions and handling. I look forward to playing with my truck now.
