I have a 64 Pontiac with a stock four link suspension. I need to install jam nuts on the Spherical rod joints on my rear control arms. The thru bolt and nut I installed isn't doing the job. However I needed to lengthen all four arms 3/8" to fit the lock nut in, this will set the rear end back 3/8". I don't see any trouble with this but just wanted to check with you guys...
Thanks, Jeff

You'll lose 3/8" of engagement on the trans slip yoke, not sure if that's a big deal or not. Also, your tires won't be centered in the wheel opening...

Hi,
I dont think you will notice a 3/8" setback visually, just check the engagement of your youke as Nick suggested.

I'm in the middle of swapping in a Th-400 and I haven't measured for the new shaft yet. So this is right on time... Thanks..

Sounds like you need to shorten the control arms.

OR re-drill your relocation plates OR take some material off of your welded nut and use a thinner locking nut.

Besides the above potential issues, going 3/8" longer on the lowers arms without lengthening the uppers the same amount will effect pinion angle also....
Oops, just noticed you are lengthening all 4, nevermind! :hand:

Thanks guys.... Finished it today. I think I'm going to go over the whole chassis with WD-40 and a rag... Those Currie Johnny Joints stay snug even after 25,000 miles...
