1967 Firebird Restoration: I need to place 67 Firebird doors on a 68 Firebird bucket (body), but the 67 has 3-hole hinges and the body mounting plates on the 68 are 4-hole. They say I can easily swap out the pins on the top hinge and make it work (door side would be 67 and the body side would be 68 to fit the body), but they say that I would need to actually change the bottom mounting plate on the 68 body to actually make the transfer possible.

Has anybody done this before?? Can anyone provide tips on removing/replacing the hinge plate and realign with success? Are there other ways to solve my problem?

Also, are there any other issues that I should be aware of from a fitting standpoint?

Everybody tells me to just get 68 doors and make a 68, but I really want to keep my 67 that I grew up with. I am basically at a standstill because of this situation, so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

True! 67 has cast iron hinges (if memory serves me) 68 and 69 have stamped steel. Not worth the headache of trying to get them to work.

Now I think there is a lot more differences then just the doors between 67 and 68. However if this is what you really want to do why not put the 3 bolt plates on the 68 body so you could use the 67 hinges and everything would look like 67. probably a bunch more work but you would really get the result you are after.
