Here are pictures from the Russo & Steele Auction site. Drew Alcazar and his team did a FABOULOUS job under the cirucmstances to help all the consignors.

268 or the 600+ cars had no "visiable" damage according to Russo. Auction resumes this morning with about 200 cars. I am surprised at all the damaged cars still there and the number of them that are still running through the auction.

Enjoy or maybe I should say Wonder in Amazement!

The photo album below contains a few pictures from a friends cars and then all the devastation!

BOTH our cars were damaged. Guess on the Pantera $40K+. The California Special GT/CS Mustang $20K+. The CS/GT was a fresh rotissarie restoration of a Movie Car with EVERY panel on the car getting some amount of damage.

Sorry to see that.. very sad..

Are those your pictures? If so could I get a high res or #165? I'm doing BJ coverage and would like to do a sidebar on this disater. Let me know.

Also, is RS liable for any of this under thier insurance? I know the storm was an "act of God" but the tent a man made device.

In other words is this damage on the hands of the owners?

I wonder how different this would be if it happened at BJ since that no-reserve auction has a different set of rules (ie, the car is really no longer yours once you check it in). At least that's my understanding.

The carnage, wow I did not think it was that bad.

If RS cant stand by what happen they will be digging their own grave. Who will want to take their car to them?

Wow that is insane!! I had no clue the damage would be that bad! I see what looks like a lot of hail damage too. Were all these cars under a big tent and when it collapsed, this is what happened?
I feel real sorry for the owners, sad day indeed.

Oh my I should not had looked at those picts.....wow I know it is an act of God but I am at a loss for words...Specially that convertible cuda and the chevelle (wifes favorite cars)

I am sure all those owners have insurance for those vehicles, I also wonder how many are going to be "totalled loss"

I too felt sick. There's a lotta broken hearts right there. Value that can never be regained. Just think of the cars that were "mint" that'd neve had a scratch, or dent or extra mile. Now will have to be rebuilt at a huge loss. Custom paint blends that can never be matched. eeeesh. I weep for the fallen.

I had a friend at Barrett/Jackson and he said it was awful there. Maybe not as bad from all those pictures! That is horrible!!!

The auction is up and running. Damaged cars are going through the auction bringing good money AND selling. I "heard" that Haggarty had about 130 of the cars insured. They are a premier event sponsor. Mckeel Haggarty and about 30 claims reps were onsite.

Drew Alcazar's team did a SUPERB job under the circumstances. Hats off to Drew and his team.

Lot's of damaged or slightly damaged cars brought what I thought was good money today and sold AS IS damaged. The barn find 69 Shelby GT500 Convertiblewas not damaged and SOLD FOR $91k PLUS 10% buyer fee. That's a lot of money for an old barn find car! Looks like some of the money may have come over early from BJ to see if there was a deal!

The biggest point of interest in the auction was on Thursday with the number of cars that got what "I" thought were BIG DOLLAR BIDS that did not meet the sellers reserve. I am sorry but your supposed to SELL a 66 Mustang Shelby Clone thats not that nice when it bids to $42K PLUS 10% buyers feel. That car was a no sale. It also got tore all $$hitt in the storm later that evening. I watched the seller load the car Saturday and go home MAD. OOPS! Looks to me like he choose poorly!

As crazy as it sounds there were more owners than you would think with NO INSURANCE on their vehicle. I heard of one dealer who had 6 with no inventory comprehensive insurance. All of a sudden that $300-$400/year to properly insure your car looks cheap! Good reason to properly insure your car.

More to come!

I just saw Edelbrocks cars get dropped off at Vic's Garage. The 68 SS396 Camaro convertiable looks to have taken the worse of the Edelbrock cars, it got a hard hit on the left quarter on the top at the body line crease, the convertible top is torn up, and the front fender got a pretty good dent. This is a high option 68 Camaro SS with a special paint code. Didn't get a good look at the ZR1 or the 67 375hp Camaro but didn't look too bad.

As I understand, RJ put up the tent making them on the hook for a whole lotta repairs, I am sure there be lawyers involved soon enough.

If the top was down or the windows left open the SOB got wet!

The Scottsdale Police closed tents to EVERYONE about 45 minutes before the first tent went down. They would not let ANYONE back under the tents to close windows, hoods or tops.

Does Russo and Steele not put current results on their website? Or am I looking in the wrong places?

Any word on what was the final outcome of this?
I was reminded of this over the weekend while I was at a wedding that was outdoors in a tent.
Just curious.
