Give a look here, is that a stamped code? The raised code on the center section is a casting date, does not indicate ratio, etc.

Thanks Dave,
That is the stamped code on the passenger side axle tube, the pumpkin has parallel reinforcements and is a ten bolt. On the pumpkin there are cast numbers GM63 with a zero over it, and on the opposite side 3894859NF

Any one have an Idea what Im dealing with here??
Does the raised casting GM63 on the passenger side of the housing indicate it was produced in 1963??

I only have a camaro code sheet, but BP is listed as 2.73 non posi. U can just pull the cover and count the teeth if you want.

dig through that link for more than just the spreadsheet of axle codes. it seems the BP code was used for 3.08 open diff 10-bolts in '67, not just as 2.73's in '68-9. like David Pozzi said the date codes is cast on the center section... that link will show you everywhere to look and how to decode it as well.

does GM63 on the center section indicate 1963 production. I already know the ratio and traction unit. I'm trying to figure out if this is even the original rear end.
