I just picked up some 12" front brakes for my G-body (79 malibu) off of a '99 camaro and I decided to grab the rear while I was at it thinking I had seen a bracket to mount them. Now I can't seem to find one for a 12" setup.

I found a modification where you cut the axle flange and drill bigger/new holes to mount the backing plate from the camaro, but I'm a little weary of this for daily driving. Has anyone done this modification, is/was there any problems? I checked Kore3's site but didn't see any brackets for the three bolt setup my rear axle has.

Here is the page for the axle modification, what do you think, safe or not?http://www.thirdgen.org/ls1reardisc

Thanks for any help

That axle mod should be plenty safe if you use Grade 8 fasteners, that's where your weak point is going to be in terms of shear strength. Also, by using the backing plate you can rig up the nice emergency brake from the F-body.
