Hi all,

I'm new to this site, but have already learned alot... Pretty bitchen thing you guys have got goin here.

My issue: I've got an LQ4 with stock accessories (minus AC), hooker headers and mounts in a 68 El Camino. The problem is that the power steering pulley won't clear the steering box. I've read that alot of people doing this swap simply replace the PS pulley with a smaller one, but things still don't clear for me. I'm not sure, but i think replacing the PS pulley to clear the steering box also relies on spacing the motor up some... something I don't want to do.

So, for those of you running LS based motors in A-bodies, what accessories did you go with? Did you have any clearance issues?

Does anyone know of a smaller steering box I can go with? By smaller, I mean doesn't protrude so far out into the engine bay-- I'd love to find one thats more low profile n more flush with the frame rail.

Any opinions?

Thanx all

Anyone got any input? Rack n pinion would likely solve this, but i dunno if i can deal with that kind of a wallet hit.

ideas?
