Considering the Camaro and Mustang are neck and neck around a track right now, and the Mustang only has ~315hp.
Looks like were off to the races! Hopefully Camaro counters w/ 500+hp, since it has a 400lb weight disadvantage.
Where is Dodge in all of this???
Also, I wonder what they are going to do w/ the 500 now since the GT is encroaching on its turf.

No joke, the Challenger needs to go on a massive diet.
As for the Z/28... I didn't know that had been confirmed yet.
Either way looks like the horsepower race is back in full swing (minus Mopar anyway), good thing too since I was born in 87' I didn't get to partake in the first one.

Z/28 is pretty much a sure thing. Considering the expected power, Everyone better step it up.

dyno schmyno, I want to see more refinement and development in the suspension.

Nothing wrong with the two sides getting into a modern muscle car war! Its good for us gearheads since the parts will eventually trickle down to our projects.

All either of them need is different springs/shocks and some R compounds to be well out of the driving capabilities of 99.9% of people.
Although I wouldn't mind a factory option with those included... a true track pack. Throw in some <20lb 18 forged wheels and it would be the best option *ever*.

the new Camaro will need some seriously beefed up suspension mounting points and components if you're going to run sticky tires. There's a lot of squish in the factory suspension. That said, it's still badass and I wouldn't mind making those improvements one bit.
It's too bad the giant wheel wells make an 18" wheel look so goofy. There's just no easy way around that.

I know. I wish they hadn't designed that thing around 20" wheels. I don't think they look good on anything.

Much of the squish comes from massive rubber body mounts. There are many companies that can deal with that. However, some of the NVH qualities go away so there is always a tradeoff.

I don't think Dodge is going to be out there trying to be building a "super" sports car. I think that Dodge is still "under water", is it not??

If Dodge is underwater then GM is stuck on the bottom of the ocean with a leaking submarine, which happens to be why the Z/28 hasn't been confirmed yet. They can't afford it right now so it keeps getting pushed back.

18's will look good if you drop the ride height a bit.
And how do you do that?
You call Detroit Speed & Engineering....that's how you do that.
