I am putting a 4L80e into a 71 chevelle complete with EFI from FAST. So I have the trans controller as well.

I am wanting a shifter with the styling shown below. Basically, I do not want the paddle shifter. I want the "+/-" bump on the floor shifter like most cars now-a-days have.

If I cannot find this in one solution. What is the most simple/sleek looking 4 speed shifter? I'm thinking I would maybe add some kind of electronic push button for "down" and "up" shifting?

Assuming, of course, the trans controller accepts such up/down shifting control.

In searching some have used the shifter from the pontiac G6 with "some extra work".

I do not understand how the Master shift get the trans' from park to drive?!

I have seen this lokar shifter before and it is very clean looking. I wonder how it's price compares to a used G6 setup. Where can one find a shifter from a G6 if they can't find one at a local junkyard?

The G6 shifter is fairly tall. It might not work with your existing console. You can get a floor shifter for a Chrysler 300 or Magnum wagon and then custom make linkage. Basically, any factory +/- shifter will require some ebay / junkyard / dealer searching as well as some custom fabrication for integration. The results can be worthwhile though.

The Mastershift system has a controller (the box) that runs a cable connected to the detent on the side of your transmission.

The G8 style shifters appear to not use a cable. Rather, they have a long arm that sticks below the floor pan and it connects via some mechanical rod-like linkage. What's also a concern is the images I have seen show the arm below the floor pan to be some kind of composite material and not metal. If someone can confirm any of this, I'd appreciate it.

the picture above is a shifter and console from a 2004 Cadillac DTS. I spoke with the owner and he said he used a B&M shifter cable and that the detents matched the 4L80e just fine. It being a cable shifter helps out a ton. Images on the internet show it to be the better option so far.

HOWEVER, no bump shifting. I'd have to install a rocker switch of some kind. Or, there are other Cadilac shifters that have the bump shifting, but I am unsure of what lies beneath the exterior trim pictures I have been able to see.

If I could put two push button switches on my steering wheel and wirelessly control up/down shift for about $50 - what do you think about that? I'm not sure how I would do it cleanly though...
