So, I am almost finished with "Billy Goat". March will see everything come together, just need to buy engine/tranny after that and I will have replaced every mechanical part on that car just about.

I am in the pre-planning stages of my next project. I was going to build one of the numerous Cobra kits... the problem is that there are a *LOT* of them. Does anyone have experience with them? Unlike the GTO which is built to be a good balance between everything to compete with the likes of modern sports sedans. The Cobra will be dedicated solely to the persuit of pulling massive G's while still being "street legal" so I can drive it to and from the track, I want it to be an almost no-holds-barred hillclimb/roadrace car.

So in light of that I was wondering if anyone knew which kits were built well enough to handle *constant* flogging and have great suspension setups.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Factory Five w/ IRS.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

P.S. I am not stuck on the Cobra, my budget for this car is just a *LOT* lower than Billy Goat. So Cobra kits seem to be the best bang-for-buck right now. Looking at $40,000 complete or less.

You should just buy my '65 LeMans project, since you're a Pontiac guy.

The Factory 5 stuff looks real nice. A good friend of mine has been researching them for a while and has finally decided to go with them. They offer a builders class and a lot of support too.

You might be able to find a decent Caterham Superlight for around that price....

If I were going to build any of the factory 5 stuff, I would pick the GTM (but that is out of the price range)

I would go with the Type 65.... I think they look sick....

Been looking at those too, would probably get a westfield before a caterham though, they seem a bit more capable and cheaper. But looking around people have been arguing that for a long time. I know for a fact you can fit a LSx in a Westfield SEiGHT for *insane* power to weight.

I thought about that (and still am thinking about it), its just that the rear is so... flat... on them. Rest of the car looks great though. Not to mention it outperforms the Mk3.
