Hey guys,
Ok I will cut straight to the chase, I am looking for my first real car one to go to and from work and all that great stuff. I obviously want something sporty (I hate saying that) but get good gas mileage and not cost an arm and leg to insure an 18 year old driver. I drove a RX8 and loved it, I found a 07 that was loaded with 49,000 miles for 17,000, and then a 09 mustang gt premium with 5,000 miles on it but the payments where too much and after hearing what the insurance on both cars would be, it wiped them out like the dinosaurs. It seems like everything I like is either too pricey… I would have thought F430’s and Gallardo’s would have come down in price by now… oh well. Or the insurance is stupid. Apparently I could get a new 2010 mustang V6 in the price range and insurance would not be bad, but I find buying a V6 mustang a sin of capitol degree and will not do it. We are wanting to finance the car, and have the payments no higher than $300 a month. I am running out of ideas what can you guys suggest?

Any suggestions is more than what I have now
Thanks
Kody

A 1998-2000 Volvo V70 T5 Turbo should give you everything you need in a commuter. I have a v70-xc AWD and if I had to do it again, would get the T5 FWD. Pretty easy and relatively inexpensive compared to the AWD model if you do your own upkeep/repairs and stay away from the dealer.

you can get in in manual or automatic. 247hp/243tq 0-60 in 7.2 stock.....& 280hp/310tq 0-60 in 6.2 with the ECU upgrade alone. Go with the IPD stage III kit from the get go, and you would get the ECU, upgraded 18T Turbo, Race cat and downpipe for $3,150.00, good for about 340 HP. There is also a very bad ass economical Big brake kit that uses Porsche/BREMBO 4-piston aluminum calipers, original Volvo S60R 13" front rotors. $300.00 for the brackets and you can source the calipers/rotors on ebay.

high 20's MPG, and since it's a wagon and has boat loads of safety features, insurance is crazy low.....and you'll never feel more ignored by the police. They run from $4,000 to about $10,000. and for another $6,000 you could have it completely hooked up with wheels/tires, big brake kit front/rear w/ lines, sway bars, Koni or Bilstein shocks/struts, strut bars, polyurethane mounts, silicone hoses, and Inter-cooler hard pipe kit. ALOT of bang for the buck.

The 2010 Mustang V6 has 300 HP I think, so it will still get down the road.

Hi and welcome.I think you could do much worse than a late model V-6 mustang. It kicks out more HP than most late 70's and early 80's Muscle cars. There is a ton of aftermarket support for asthetic upgrades,as well as hp builders and handling and suspension pieces. And the perks of V-6 fuel economy.IMO,I'd take a second look.Good Luck,FORMULA X
