Noticed that the thumbscrew that holds on the wire spool keeps tightening up causing excessive drag that affects the wire feeding. I loosen it up and it retightens. Anyone have this issue? I tried putting a battery felt washer behind it. Which helped some but it still has trouble feeding consistently. I just changed the liner as well. Before changing the liner it wouldnt feed at all when it tightened up.

look in manual but generally a nylon washer is used with a spring

look online as well maybe it was missing something right out of the box

This is my one gripe about my Lincoln ProMig 135-the nut tightens up as I weld. I wound up using a couple of large washers,a hex nut the same thread size as the wing nut,a spring of undetermined origin,a slather of grease and a sacrificial 9/16" box wrench that weighs enough so that the nut can't rotate while the spool is turning.
My son's Lincoln 100 uses the same design and suffers from the same problem. Honestly,if I ever buy another welder it won't be a Lincoln, just for this reason. It's a piss-poor design and they seem to be sticking with it.:bsjerk:

I did some searching and found a 3/16 Allen fits in the hole where the nylon wingnut goes into and there is a bolt that adjusts the friction brake as they call it. Been working ever since. Before I found this out I put one of those felt battery washers behind the spool. That worked only slightly beter before I found out about the friction brake adjustment.
