i just got this the other day, i did some trading for some paintwork and got this 1 ton van for it ! its a 93 gmc vandura 3500 conversion van, here's the kicker it has a factory 454 fuel inj with 4l80e trans, 8 lug wheels,, full 1 ton stuff, all original and never been painted as i can see , looks to be straight out of the factory where the conversion was done, i am not wanting to sell, but would like to know any input about the production numbers if anyone knows where to find them, i have been looking but may not be in the right spot, cant find anything about one of these anywhere, here's pics

there's got to be a sticker or emblem somewhere that says who did the conversion. nothing in the door jamb?
1 ton vans aren't that strange- i see them on the interstate all the time. i'm sure a lot of them got the 454. but they are mostly cargo vans or extended passenger vans. i do see the occasional oddball conversion van like yours, tho.

A friend of mine bought a LandMark Van (CA), mine was Good Times Machine, from Good Times Inc (Austin TX).
Regency Vans was another big customizer.
There were few left doing conversions in the 90's, maybe a sales guy at a dealer could give you some info.
Mine had the Customizers name in the title instead of the auto builder.

That could be a factory insall..Like a motorhome chassis with a regular van body on it..

WOW! brings back memories of a Regency we had back when the kids were kids. The 3500 makes a great van. The firm suspension takes a lot of the top heveyness feeling out of it. My kids loved that thing!

My uncle in Altamonte Springs had one, it was a Tropic Traveler, a Artie Grindle brand, the guy that used to jump on cars in the 70/80's, he bought from a guy that used it for towing a boat, which thats what he used it for also, very stiff, and moves pretty good with the BBC,

I've had two of the older 2500 passenger vans. I used them for commuting to work. Reliable and tough as nails is the best way I can describe them. Some of the other guys running vans back and forth to work had close to 500,000 kilometers on them before they would get rid of them. GM screwed up big time when they changed over to the current full size van. They are not as comfortable and feel way too top heavy.
If you ever have a desire to "take out" a car, the older vans are the right tool for the job (don't ask how I know).

Hello, the first custom 454 was built by me, Artie Grindle, in 1990 to tow my boat, and to have the baddest van on the street. We called it the 454R/T. Red pearl paint, interior was prototype.
Your picture is an Explorer conversion from Napanee, Indiana.

Artie? You been around a long time. I remember YEARS AGO watching you jump on roofs of cars during Wrestling commercials on Saturdays!
How the heck did you find this?
