i have a lead on a 68 c10 2wd shortbed. no motor/tranny. is there a modern frame or suspension components that will bolt on.
wondering if a frame swap out is possible to upgrade to new disc brakes and modern geometry.
thanks

Air Ride has some baddass stuff for that truck with the stock chassis. A Street Challenge kit will put that thing on rails!

I had a 71 short step... The rear truck arm is a great design... the front is standard A arm stuff... I did a static drop but air ride would be sweet... 68 is 6 lug and drum brakes all around.... it will have a truck 12 bolt... I has 94-96 Impala SS w/ 275/55/17 on all 4 corners... thing handled great...

You can also bolt in later cross member to get 5 lugs, then add in cool ride from Ridetech, in back with long arms simply get the guys at Ridetech to send you proper springs and tada your done, you can use 3 paddle switches and a 5 gallon frame mount tank and tie in a single guage for the rear and a dual needle for the front and no one would even know. I had my 78 C10 long bed set up back in 04 BEFORE they offered a bolt in rear parallel 4 link kit, I was running her hard, no big tires just 2557015 front 30/9.50/15 rear and could stay with buddies 01 Camaro in country twisties.

Porterbuilt kit is a great part if you want to grind the frame rails off. They make some nice stuff

was actually wondering if there was a newer donor truck for the disc brake conversion and a standard 5 lug rear.

If all you want is front disc brakes and 5 lugs, swap over directly from a 71 or 72 C10. The whole front crossmember and rear end will bolt in.

Porter has a complete c-5 suspension swap that bolts in with his crossmember.. I saw a link to his page but he has plenty of options.

Norwood has a good suggestion with the 71-72 swap..you can even swap in 73-87 stuff if you want to have it more readily avaliable

is the 73-87 stuff just bolt in with no modifications?

Some of the front end parts can work, I am not totally sure of what combinations of parts work together though. There are differences in the ball joints and possibly the tie rod ends and spindles. The rear ends are different. Most 67-72 Chevy's where coil spring with truck arms, most GMC's were leaf. The opposite was an option, just not commonly chosen. I believe that the 73-87 stuff is all leaf spring and possibly a different width. You can get 5 lug conversion axles for a 67-70 rear. For that matter, there are also 6 lug rotors available if you are only looking for disc brakes. The 71-2 rear is wider to correspond with the wider front track width caused by the front disc brakes.
What are you really wanting to do with this rig? There are many options, you will get better direction with more information. This website is a great resource too 67-72chevytrucks.com

I know this is an old post, but in the interest of generating more truck related traffic I thought I would bring it to the top.

Norwoodx55 is correct. If you are looking to upgrade a 67-70 drum brake set up, you can use a 73-87 truck (Burbs go to 91) complete crossmember with everything attached if you wish.

The advantage is the 73-87 parts are cheaper than the 71-72 5 bolt disc brake components are cheaper.
