View Full Version : President Reagan's famous Christmas Address to the country

It was December 23, 1981, and he was finishing his first year in office. His approval rating was at 49% and the country was in a deep recession.

I'm posting this not to push a religious or political agenda, but instead I think it may encourage the listeners. I believe if Mr. Reagan was giving this address again today he would not change a word, and his and our enemies would take a few steps backwards.

Wow, what a great speech! I was 12 in 1981 and don't really remember it, but it means more today than ever.

Thanks for posting it!

Certainly a more heartfelt speech than those "politically correct" mouthings of current politicians.......it was very good to hear that.

Forgot what a good speech that was. Even makes me more upset about how far we have slipped, and how few honorable men we have left in DC.Ron

A well written and delivered speech to be sure, but I almost couldn't listen to it past the damn horrible synth version of "Hark the herald"... freaking annoying as hell!

Wow! I miss that kind of leadership---I think I was in high school at the time---but remember my uncle saying that Regan was a great man. It's amazing to think that our current society would not tolerate that kind of a speech today---how the mighty have fallen. Thanks for sharing Skip---
