Hi all,

I don't think I've posted here much at all, despite visiting all the time, because I'm usually on lateral-g, so for those of you who don't go over there, here is a brief introduction. I'm Matt, and about two years ago my father Steve and I were bitten by the pro-touring Camaro bug. Long story short we ended up over at Best of Show Coachworks, and had quite a major build underway. We decided to make the thrash for SEMA '09, and ended up coming up just hours shy of a car we were willing to take to Vegas. Needless to say, we were all pretty bummed out. I think my dad may have taken it the hardest though. We were going to finish the car in January for the Grand National Roadster Show, but I talked with **** and the crew at Best of Show, and we decided finishing the car would make a nice little Christmas present my dad.

Now, we've decided **** is going to be driving the Camaro up to Cars and Coffee in Irvine on 12/26, while I drag my dad up there completely unaware of what is in store for him. :naughty:

Since most of the shop will be going, as well as some customers/friends, and we'll have several cars up there, I figured it would be nice if we could get a little pro-touring crowd together. I know it is short notice, but I didn't want to say anything before we were 99% sure we were good to go. Besides it might be a welcomed break from certain family members. So please try and make it out.

In case you guys are wondering what this car looks like, here are some pics from when it was *almost* done back in November.

Those are Recaro Style seats and yes, a very tough to install Marquez interior that looks stunning.

Oh Steve, I guess you haven't heard the news. Greg was going to pick up another '69 Camaro that supposedly just needs an engine and trans to run. I think he might have his eye on that spot where my car is. You might have to fight it out, lol.

As for that Marquez interior... There are a ton of hours wrapped up in there. The end result is killer, but for the same amount of time I could have had Brad and a trim shop build something original. Live and learn, still I'm happy with the way it came out.

Matt, I think what you are doing for your dad is fantastic!!

Best thing you can do is spend time with your family and giving him this car will blow him away I'm sure. Looks awesome!

I've seen this car sitting outside when it was in primer and mini-tubed.

My son and I were looking at all the detail it had done to it. Loved it!!

Thanks! I think I must've dropped by the shop as you were leaving. I seem remember the guys mentioning your visit, and how you and your son had a project in the works. Very cool.

Oh and if you want to see the car done, and hear it, feel free to drop by the shop any time in the next month as it should be there. They still have to adjust the headlight doors and place the motors, as well as a few tiny odds and ends, so it will be there.

Matt needs to update this but his Dad was pretty much speechless..

Too bad the sun didn't come out.. that's when the color really pops.

Here's a shot I took today at the shop. This is the ride heigth for the road and there's no rubbing issues.

Nope, Brad and I designed that spoiler last summer. I had jokingly talked with the Anvil crew about having them made in carbon fiber so we wouldn't have to worry about breaking our aluminum one. I guess I should have been more serious, people seem to like it.

Now, as for Cars and coffee on Saturday, save for some blue sky, or lack there of, I don't think it could have gone any better. My dad dragged himself over just because he knew that I wanted to go, and well, he was in for a shock. We ended up seeing just about everything in the parking lot before we stumbled into the Best of Show crew with our car. I think it took him a little while to actually realize what we'd done. From a distance he didn't even realize what he was looking at. He even said he though someone else brought a black car that looked a lot like ours.

The car was a hit too, and drew a ton of attention. I'm pretty sure several people gave up trying to get good photos of it because my dad was too busy looking at it to get out of the way.

Here are some shots from the event:

I talked to D!ck and he's made plans to bring it to a few more shows. Its going to be in Vista this coming Saturday, and the La Jolla cove show the following day. After that we'll fix the headlight doors and its off to the Grand National Roadster Show.

The Vista Show is the "Pepper Tree Frosty Burger run," which apparently is a fairly big San Diego area pre-72 gathering, and isn't too serious. Should be fun.

As for Del Mar, it has been our plan for the last year to make Goodguys with a car that is completely finished, sorted out, and about as flawless as it will ever be, before getting some real miles put on it.

Matt,
If you dont' have a booth to park it in at DelMar GoodGuys this year, you can park it in ours.

Also, thank you for purchasing the Forgelines from us, they look awesome on there. Can you email me some photos for our photogallery? [email protected].

AWESOME! Car looks great!

Thanks Jon. Right now, we don't have a spot for the car, so I'd love to take you up on that offer. Only potential issue would be if the Best of Show guys got a small booth this year. Steve had suggested getting one and parking our Camaro and Bad Penny together, but doubt the guys need a booth. They said they wouldn't know what to do with more cars.

Oh and I'll get a few more pictures of the car and those Forgelines for you on Friday when it is all detailed.

Lastly, thank you for setting us up with a set wheels that are spot on as far as offset and backspacing.
