Hey fellas, I am planning to go with a used LY6 engine and and putting a tad bit more aggressive cam and I plan on keeping the VVT of coarse. The reason I picked this engine is well I'm just old fasion but I like the new technology as far as engines are concerned so I can get the best of both worlds with the LY6 engine! I mean here you will have a IV gen LS engine and not only that but its a cast iron block on top of the that! Just makes me feel all warm inside thinking about it. Now my problem is that this will be my first time attempting this kind of engine swap. Now my questiong is will it be a harder swap because it's a gen IV engine or will it be about the same? Cause I'm still on here reading about LS1 and LS2 swaps and the biggest difference I've seen between the LS1, 2, 6, 7 and the LS3, 9, LSA,LY6, LQ9 is the Drive By Wire system. I'm style kind of shakey about that, I would like it if it was some kine of way to do the LY6 swap and have the good ol' drive by throttle. So Gents, any and all advice and help is welcomed.

I am planning on doing a LY6 swap if I can get my hands on one for the right price. I just missed a used one with computer, harness etc for $2000. Next one I can find I will buy.

Because of the rectangle port heads you will not be able to use typical LS1,2,6 style intake manifolds with a drive by cable throttle body. The factory intakes that fit the genIV 6.0 will only be drive by wire. Possible there are aftermarket throttle bodies out there to convert or you can use the four barrell style intake manifold from GM performance or Edelbrock and be free to use any throttle body. I wouldn't be scared of the DBW setup. the computers to work with the GENIV motors are already setup for it and really no reason not to use them. If you ar ebuying an LY6 truck motor MAST motorsports makes a nice adapter to use a four barrel intake with the factory truck throttle body. Saves you from having to source an expensive car style intake and throttle body.

Thanks fellas I appreciate the input. I am planning to use the LY6 engine and bore it out from 4.000" to 4.o65" and get some work done to the heads along with with after market pistons and step the cam up a little. But first I gotta land another job before anything.
