Rocket racing wheels. They are pretty inexpensive and have a very nice look to them. I noticed they have them on the 65' Cutlass in this months PHR. Anyhow i think these would look killer on my GTO but im kind of leary because they are so inexpensive. Im on a budget so these are looking pretty sweet right now. Anyhow....does anyone have any reviews of this brand of wheel?

It is a clean looking wheel. What is your GTO?

Check with Driverz, I know they sell them and sure they can give you some insight.

:) I was going to ask what year and color, but then I saw the year in your signature and guess I didn't finish that sentence.

So.... what color is your car?

Its a 67' And its blue with a black vinyl top.

Theres a couple pics of it on this thread.

I think those wheels would go very nicely with the blue and black, what do you think?

Yes.... yes it might!!

Are you happy with your wheels overall? What size/offset did you go with? What tires did you go with?

Socrates, nice looking car.

Novaguy73, I think the gray would look sweet with the color of the car.

Rocket Racing wheels are a very nice wheel. We have them in our wheel line. Pricing is just a mouse click away.
Also check out our wheel image gallery. We have several cars in there with Rocket Racing Wheels. I believe one is a 69 GTO. Not quit the same but you can get a feel for what they look like on your car.

You can take the links you had:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2575/...7a6cbca5_o.jpg (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2575/4188823880_557a6cbca5_o.jpg)

and capture the properties of the image, which for the first one was:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2575/4188823880_557a6cbca5_o.jpg

And add/replace url tags with image (img) tags, like: https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif after the link.
The browser will render them embedded in the page:

They are cast oversea's. Most cast wheels today are all done over sea's. I'm not sure anyone is casting wheels in the USA any more. The quality of these wheels are very nice. We have sold several sets with not one issue.

I really like the wheels. They are the only sub $500/each wheels I liked, in fact! They are very high quality, and the hyper silver color-shifting paint is absolutely stunning, day or night. Best part, near zero polishing required to look great, just wash with soap and they look killer. On multiple occasions I've had people make me pull over to check out the wheels right after I put them on! They are a very striking wheel design, and I think really go nicely with the long lines of the 66/67 GTO/Lemans. They are a bit heavy, though they are large cast wheels, so that's to be expected I suppose. They balanced very well with very little weight. They center cap oxidizes very rapidly and needs polished, though otherwise are less maintenance then the ralley wheels that were on it before.

I'm running 17x7 up front, 17x8 in back, 235/45/17 in front, 255/45/17 in back with the Nitto 555 for the street. There is no room for anything else in the wheelwells in back, though maybe a 245 would fit up front, just maybe. I really wanted 18's for the better offset, though tire selection in 17's is better and more affordable so went that route. Wish I had better pics to post. I've had these wheels for over a year, so no excuse for not having better pics! Soon as I roll the car out of my warehouse/shop with the new T56 I'll get better pics up.

That is a pretty cool idea for the air intake..... almost hidden because the ducts are silver. If you are able to put a silver domed mesh screen in front, they would blend even more and look more like headlights.

miahbuchholtz
12-16-2009, 12:04 PM
i went with 18 x 8 and 18 x 9 in the rear and 245/40s and 255/45 in the rear and the car is lowered 3 in front and 2 in the back

Socrates

I though about a chrome mesh screen, though I like the open look on the headlights. Besides, it allows me to put a couple big Nerf Missiles in them for shows, ala Bond or XXX missile launchers, to excite the kids and young at heart, and to irk the old fogey purists, both of which give me a great deal of pleasure :)

Im suprised you couldnt get more tire in the back. Was it due to the limited offset selection? I used to have old Weld pro-Stars on my 67' GTO in highschool. I ran 275/60/15's without issue. Are 66's and 67's different in the wheel well?

I have a 12 bolt from a 1970 chevelle in the 66, putting the wheels .5" further out on each side. A 275 series tire might fit with the narrow, early A-body rear still in the car, though no dice with the offset of the Rocket Racing wheels, plus the tiny wheel wells, plus the large tailpipes I'm running...

I'm own the project car, and I have to say, these are excellent wheels for the money. They look great and I have really driven the car hard. I have had tons of compliments on the wheels. Plus I like the Rocket tie in. The people at Rocket Racing are really great to work with. I can't say enough about them or their product.

I have 245-40-18 front and 275-40-18 rear. I can't say we didn't have clearance issues, but thru wee very easlily remedied
