never a stockcar from NASCAR on a city street. I swear that I was sitting at a red light and watched this thing get off the freeway and then I snapped two pics before I went to work. It's on my crappy cell phone camera but you can see it and I'm not crazy....right? It was nuts, the dude was just cruising and had the net up!......so am I loosing it or what because as far as I knew these things were super illegal on the street seeing as they have no headlights/tailights...etc.

Keith,

That is pretty insane. How far are/were you from the Las Vegas motor speedway? I guess one of the pitcrew guys wanted to take a little joy ride? Maybe they didn't get enough testing in before the sessione ended, heh. Did you try running him? J/K :3gears:

Could that have been just a heavy modified car or was it really a nascar? I would assume you were alot closer and could see all the details? Did it have real lights?

Either way that is crazy!!

It looked brand new. No sponsor stickers everywhere or across the hood and I'm certain it had no headlights/tailights (just the painted on ones) Now that I think about it logically, it just couldn't have been an actual NASCAR. No team would risk it...maybe a kit car or someone's homegrown version...anyone know the number on the side? I wasn't near the strip or even the motor speedway.....just weird.

A friend of mine just bought a nascar chassis for three grand off of ebay. I swore I wouldnt divulge what his plans are but the car sold a few weeks ago if you search ebay. it had never been run and included a bunch of spare parts , no body or drivetrain.

You have to quit drinking and driving. I know of a good AA plan that will help you work your way through this. R.P.

The driver probably figured that the worse case scenario would involve being in a police chase.
I would never run from the cops, but if I would, that would be near the top of the list in choices.

I usually see a race car running around the complex next to the speedway where my mom works, but I have yet to see one on the street...That must have been a trip seeing it on the street.

My dad took a driving school at the Texas Motor Speedway (cant remember if it was the Richard petty school or not) but they drove the cars with slicks about 15 mins. down the freeway all the way to the track and then raced around the track did the school and drove them back to the shop afterwards.

No doubt, wait for the car to be done for you to be really validated on that comment! :fingersx:

I just spoke with a guy from New York that is building REAL NASCAR replica's that are street legal. These are full tube cage chassis, NASCAR Body, with NASCAR brakes, suspension, etc. He runs SBC with Vintage Air A/C since the windows are stationary :headbang:

He is working on a website where you can see more...

Give him a call at 315-458-0836 and ask for Jeff.... super nice guy!!
