I am in the process of beefing up my 9" under my camaro. A friend wants to trade me 9" housing. With his I can run the new 11" Wilwood brake kit and I can fit both 15" rims and my 18" Rushforths. My question is his axles have 5/8" studs, this is coming from his race car. Will the Rushforth Fuels accomadate 5/8" studs or no? I have 1/2" now but I never looked for 5/8" studs.
If they won't fit, is there a way to replace 5/8" studs with 1/2" studs but just get them with a bigger knurl or something?
These are 35 spline axles, thats a good upgrade from my 28 spline stockers!
Thanks, Erik

Erik,
Find out if the 5/8" studs are screw in or pressed in. If screw in, you won't be able to change them.

As JP pointed out, it'll depend on the 5/8" studs already installed as to whether you can find a replacement stud with a large enough knurl diameter and more appropriate stud size for your wheels.
Not to speak for Jay regarding your Fuels, but most aftermarket wheels in my experience run a .600" to .630" through hole for the wheel studs to accommodate studs up to M14 or 9/16" max.

I just wanted to throw this out there. I have a M9 with 35spline axles. I had them drilled for 5/8 studs and later decided I may want to run a 20X15 alum wheel. Bought some 1/2 1.5 mustang studs with .615 knurl end. problem solved!

Thanks for the replies. I called Strange and they said for $80 I can ship the axles to them and they will redrill and install 1/2 studs for me. Seems like a good deal, especially if they will warranty and get it right. I am not sure if the 5/8" studs are pressed fit or screw in.
This is my first time dealing with a ford 9". My current 9" has the Early Big Ford ends on it. The new Wilwood 11" brakes need the New Ford Style. This way my 15" drag rims will fit over the caliper and I can race the car again.
Thanks!

The 1/2 studs will most likely be the way you have to go. Rushforth Wheels are drilled for a standard 60 degree seat "acorn" style lug, and most 5/8 studs take a washer and nut style lug, and your wheels won't allow a washer and nut to seat correctly.
