Custom made wheels?

I'm wondering how hard and costly it would be to get 1 off wheels made for my car. The design I want is pretty simple, But it has to be just right for the rest of the wheel I have to work right.


Is there any custom wheel maker on here than might want to chime in on this idea?

We'll start with 18x8 front hoops and 18x10 rear hoops. Are these hard to get right now?
Even a set of 18x9 hoops all the way around might work.

you are looking at 6K-10K to start depending on who you talk to, and can easily go up from there.

do you have a solidworks program already done or a drawing ? how do you plan to convey your idea in your head to the machinist making the wheel ? The more work that needs to be done the more expensive. My CNC machinist can help with the solidworks dwg and the making of the wheels for about half that. Hes done quite a few already. Ive always wondered about this. I have a machinest that might be able to build me some rims but where can you get the raw aluminum parts to machine to rims?

what are the DOT requirements for a custom made wheel. Is all testing needed?

We've done a few sets. Most 1-offs are "show only" and not load tested but I will not build it if there is a safety concern.

Please tell me these are only "for show." The stresses seen by a set of wheels aren't that simply determined. Even if you try to run calc's using the max lateral, vertical and torque loads from overzealous performance expectations you'll still be aiming blind concerning the impulse loads of hitting a pothole or kissing a curb, not to mention the cyclic loading effects.

I'd hate to see a nice ride hit the ditch because of a wheel failure. Legit wheels have solid testing behind them and some experienced engineers who know their stuff. Although I think it happens too often, the S.W.A.G. method just shouldn't be used with street wheels (or other suspension/brake components for that matter). swag = scientific wild ass guess

I would rather put my life on the line with a set of custom CNC'd billet wheels over any cast wheel on the market today.

We have done custom one off wheels for people, but as said above, it's not cheap.

Contact Proformance Industries (http://www.proformanceindustries.com/) and ask for George Gjokaj. They made the wheels for my 1969 Dodge Daytona and do beautiful work.

Call Iconz Wheels. They advertise that they do this service at no extra charge. I am in the middle of ordering a set right now.
