MP.
I don't know for sure about building a car like that in the Phillipines but I know for sure that it requires a lot more for and of most people outside the US to build a US car than it does for Americans in the US. So a bit of extra support from your fellow 'foreigners/non Americans' seems appropriate!

Neki 67, that's so true. It's expensive to build them cause we have to order all our parts from your country. What makes it actually expensive is the freight cahrges and customs duties and taxes that we have to pay for when the parts arrive. Again i thank you.

Mmmmmm, don't think you have to order them from the Netherlands, do you? I'm in the same boat my friend. Compared to the Americans we have to spend almost twice.

Every time i go to the Philippines i have to bring a balikbayan box full of car parts, its really bad this trip due to all the damaged cars from the floods a few months ago, i'm bringing some ECM's for damaged escalades.

Hello MLM,

Welcome to the Pro-Touring.com website and family.

Was your car originally sold in the Philippines or was it purchased in the US and shipped to the Philippines in the last few years? I know GM used to build 67-69 Camaros in the Philippines. I don't know if they were still doing that in the 1970's or if your car was built in the US and shipped to the Philippines.

Hi Rick,

The flood was extremely bad. "Ondoy" damaged so many cars over here so much so the dealerships have a backlog of as much as 8 months before they can repair the cars but it'll never be the same again. A flood damaged car just doesn't feel "right" anymore.

On a different note, I was in the shop of a friend of mine yesterday and he's looking for a hydraulic roller cam for a '68 Pontiac 400 cu. in. He's looking in the region of 268 degree duration and about .490" lift. Any suggestions? His manufacturer of choice is Chet Herbert but he's open to other reputable manufacturers.

Hi Tony,

Thanks so much for the welcome. Super great site you have going.:1st:

Re. my camaro, it was purchased in the U.S. and brought in by a U.S. service man during the time that the U.S. bases were still in the Philippines.

You're so right about GM building camaros over here from 1967-69. They were plain janes with anemic 6 cylinders, 3-speed trans. and drum brakes all around.
