I have promised my 16 year old son that I would send him to a professional driving school.

IMHO this is one of the greatest gifts one can give their child.

I am interested in recommendations for schools that teach defensive
driving habits and techniques to new drivers.

Thanks!

I believe that most of the driving schools have courses designed for the beginer teen driver. They focus on car control for defensive driving and skid recovery. I don't know what ones are local to you, but Bondurant (AZ I believe) is an excellient school I have heard from others that have taken classes there.

I have been looking into (online)the Bondurant schools in Phoenix.
You are right that they do have courses designed for teen drivers.

I could turn this into a mini family vacation.:)
My wife and I would enjoy attending a high performance class and my 13 year old could do the Kart racing classes....

Has anyone been to the Bondurant school?

A coworker and his new driver-daughter attended the Skip Barber course (I think it was a 3-day). He said it was excellent, and she benefitted a lot from it.

I am looking at the Skip Barber 3-day myself. My Paw took the 2-day and LOVED it. I still have to hear about him running the fastest time of the day.

Unfortunately I am too fat for the racing class. They say 6'5" at 240 is the max. I am 6'3" at 280. I suppose that's motivation.
