I have a buddy who has an industrial sand blaster that he uses at his business. He said I could use it to blast my body when I'm ready. But my question is, he said the blaster puts out a very fine film of oil. Is this a problem for me? I know I'll have to wipe the car down after I blast it to get the oil off, but should I just forget the blasting now that it puts out oil?

Make sure you don't use sand unless you have a very good respirator.... something about silica being a carcinogen? I've had good luck with aluminum oxide....

I would be more worried about warping panels than the fine film of oil. If the pressure is too high or the media too coarse you could do some damage fairly quickly. If that oil gets into all the seams etc where you cannot remove it I would be worried about paint adhesion.

I would be really worried about DIY with a big industrial machine...... the frame etc would be no big deal, but if you dont know what you're doing the sheetmetal might not go so well.... the wrong material and/or the wrong technique and you will warp it.

I dont like the term "industrial sand blaster" and body panels of an old car used together...........I would pass. Not to mention the oil film you are gonna have all over the body

Sand blasting the sheetmetal will ruin it!
