Haha. I tell my girlfriend all the time that Texas stole all their city names. Naples, Italy, Paris, Athens, China, Egypt, Moscow, Mercedes, Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburg, Albany (Georgia), Beverly Hills, Canadian, Carrolton (Georgia), Chapel Hill (North Carolina), Cleveland (Ohio), Columbus (Georgia), Converse (the shoe), Decatur (Georgia), Dekalb (the county that Decatur mostly emcompasses in Georgia), Jacksonville (Florida), New Boston (c'mon man hahaha), Omaha (geez), Portland, Rhome (at least they added the dang H...effort), San Diego.

That's just some of them. Thieves...Bandits, probably a more fitting name. Haha. She sat here as I typed these in, "Texas is just SO big that we ran out of names". I guess you can tell I'm from Georgia.

Hey Kevin, yeah, its FINALLY finished, well, at least road worthy. Got her on the road back in July. Seems like everytime there was a show i thought I might run into you at I was either out of town or couldnt make the show. I tried to make it to the last two cars and coffee and either the weather or schedule didnt cooperate. Still a few little things to work on, but I have been enjoying it so far, I've put about 850 miles on her in the past four months or so.

A number of people meet up 2nd sat of the month in Fort Worth at Flapjacks on Rufe Snow. Not a huge turnout by any means, just quick breakfast, check out some cars and head out. Nothing like the cars and coffee get together. My son and I went last month and there were maybe a dozen cars. Its this Sat @ 9am

It would be cool to get a Fort Worth version up and running.

Interesting... I spent months on my wheel selection. I settled on these Into V-rods. They come full polished and I added the paint detail myself. I have always thought they were perfect for my car being that is it is much more restomod than pro-touring. Most people that have seem it agree. Not going to take it the wrong way I'm just curious what you think is wrong about them? Only thing I would like is about 1"- 1 1/2" more dish in the back but that requires a narrowed rear. I can't move 1/4" in or out without rubbing due to the wheelhouse design.

Yes, Rich's Performance Mufflers in Wylie has done alot of work on my T/A (exhaust, front end alignment, fab transmission hanger). He is one of the few mechanics I trust with my car, It doesn't hurt that he is restoring a 78 T/A himself.
And your wheels look great. I remember the mathematical h*ll I went thought with finding the right back spacing on the wheel and tire width and hight to make sure I filled up the tire wells without rubbing. I also really like the custom brake calipers, where did you get them?

Personally I think the wheels are spot on with the car. They're not typical "Pro-Touring" wheels, but IMHO typical doesn't mean good. I like finding a wheel that somehow fits the theme or lines of the cars general design. I think yours do that.

Sachse Rod Shop recomended him. I was real happy with Riches work. As you I hate anyone else touching my car. On the calipers if I told you I would have to kill you LOL

They are C6 calipers I had smoothed by hand and then had the Oldsmobile CNCed into the face. I then have tons of hours masking with and xacto knife and then carefully cutting the powder back out with a tiny dremel bit to expose the letters.

Was doing some searching the last couple days and ran into this thread. I know it's 8 months since the last post but I kind of wanted to bring this idea of having something on the "west side" (Fort Worth) back to light. I made my first Cars and Coffee trip this past Saturday and I loved every second of it. Since leaving a huge car scene in Maryland I've starved for something like it again. It was a different crowd...Acura...but the love for four wheels is something many of us can't shake no matter what the badge is.

Anyway, I know the original intent of the thread wasn't about the FW car meet thing BUT I want to stir this idea back up. Even if it's just to get the keywords "DFW" "Pro Touring" "Cars and Coffee" back into folks' minds. If Flapjacks is still going, I may drag my stuff out there. Worth a shot.

Can someone recommend some shops for me? I live in allen, tx and Ive checked out two shops so far. Rod's car craft and T & A collisions. T & A is a body shop but rods car craft is more of a resto shop. One has the labor rate of $40 per hr and the other is $50 per hr. Both of quality work and the 69 that Rod did was amazing. I just didnt know if anyone had any experience first hand or recommends any other shop to restore a 67 camaro

absintheisfun
03-03-2011, 06:57 PM
Dusold Design in Lewisville is a good shop. I took my 67 there for quarters (I did all other body work, but was a bit to gunshy to try quarters myself). It was a costly affair, but it was done very well, and in and out in 1.5 weeks. They really don't like to hang on to vehicles for long, so they move fast!

Blasted my roof, both doors, deck lid and both rockers and thankfully they were all rust free
Removed and replaced:
Both quarters
Tail panel
Pass. side trunk extension
Both outer wheel wells (2 inches on the outer edge of each were cut off and replaced)
All interior support braces coated in a heavy layer of POR-15
All labor and blasting was $4,000.00 on the dot.

I supplied all the parts from Firewheel Classics.
