Hey guys,
I have 2 questions, did the search and found 99% of info I need but have 2 questions.

1.) Can you buy the C5 backing plate/e-brake system complete..?
2.) If so , does anyone know the GM part #..? If not I could use a short list of parts and #ers.

I have a chance to buy some used and wanted to check GM direct to see if I'm getting a deal or I'll be better buying from our vendors like Ed miller.......Thanks

Jeoff,

GM does not offer the parking brake as a complete assembly. The "backing plate" is actually just a sheetmetal dust shield since the actuator is designed to be mounted through the rear C5/C6 knuckle, but here are the basic component part numbers:

12455802 Actuator Housing, LH
12455803 Actuator Housing, RH
12455804 PB Shoe, 190mm
12530694 Dust Shield, LH
12530695 Dust Shield, RH
12455801 Shoe Kit (includes shoes, springs, tappets, levers, pushrods & dust boots)

You only need the shoe kit and not the 12455804 shoe unless you ever just need to replace the shoes themselves and not rebuild the actuator mechanisms.

hey i dont think the c5 ebrake parts work on first gen cars even tho some parts will i.e. caliper and abutment brackets, i know the 98-02 fbody ebrake assembly works and that you can adapt the c5 caliper to it. tobin will know for sure just thought i would mention that.

Here's what the parts look like for the C5 ebrake (shoes inside the rotor).

Like Tobin says, GM's stuff is just a sheet metal backing plate, but unless you make some brackets(or purchase them somewhere), you still will need those brackets(cadium plated parts shown in the picture) to hang the calipers on and to locate the caliper, to center it over the rotor.
