Thought I would join up here, I'm on quite a few different boards now. I have a '66 GTO, 4-speed post-coupe, originally equipped with the 389 4-bbl, Saf-T-Track rear end, and just about manual everything. Of course the drivetrain is gone and the rear end is just an open one, but it will do for now.
I'm debating turning this car into a mild pro-touring car, as I love to see these cars autocross and whatnot as well as drag of course. I'm debating a 1" drop front and rear, maybe perhaps a little rake front to rear as well, 68-72 front disc brake conversion, either a rear disc brake conversion or a Ford 9" with discs already on it if I can hunt one down, 400 engine, TKO-600 transmission if I can or another overdrive setup (a T56 would be nice but I've seen it is a heck of a lot of work, if it will even bolt to a Pontiac engine), I'd love to put 04-06 GTO seats front only if I can (the originals are a huge load of money anyway) and a host of other suspension goodies. I'd like this car responsive and to stop on a dime.
Anyway, here is the project so far, I haven't gotten around to it but I want to soon.

I know it isn't much to look at. I'll probably have quite a few questions to ask on this board such as where the good suspension parts are for these cars, aerodynamics, and why it is that people are putting such huge rims on their cars? I understand putting bigger discs on could require a 16 but some of these pro-touring cars I've seen have like 20s on them, is that actually needed for performance or could I still have a great time with 15" Cragar S/S's? Thanks.
