1st gen camaro rear frame rail dimension question

In the process of having my new floor and trunk floor welded in my '68, and getting it home and ready to fit subframe connectors, I see the front part of my rear frame rails measure 32 1/8" center to center. I have a dimension sheet that shows that it should be 33 1/2". I wouldn't be too concerned over this except for the fact that the leaf spring eye bracket (that I can't see to find in the garage) mounts between the rear frame rail and floor.

So at this point I'm afraid the front part of the rails needs to be torn from my nice new floor to get them widened out 3/4" each????

Does this sound right? Planning on a Alston G bar rear so I need those brackets.

Am I screwed?!

David, yes center to center frame rail in line with front leaf eyes. Here's a photo that you have on your site... Dimension "G" (which shows to be 33 1/2").

The guy that welded up the body double checked the dimensions when he was working on it with his very nice 68 PT car he just finished almost 2 years ago. He's running a quadra link and uses those leaf eye brackets as well. I'm thinking his guy made a mistake. He's going to double check and then stop by and take a look at mine but won't be until next week. I am almost loosing sleep over this!

33.5 is what I have on my 67 and on our 68, center to center of the index holes. The 32" number is wrong, it's pretty close to an inside-to inside dimension.

I just got done doing this on a 69 camaro. I ended up bolting the leaf spring brackets in and making sure that all fit before the final fitting. There is some room for adjustment with them, not a whole lot though.

Thanks David, guess I feared the worse, going to have to get them off without tearing it up too much, at least the front half of them anyway. I'll be talking with the body guy about it next week.
